While I've neglected my own purse wardrobe, I have done my part to improve the wardrobe of my loved ones. Most of the girls in my family received purses from me at Christmas. Most of those purses came from the book that has inspired nearly all of my sewing,
Bend-the-Rules Sewing by
Amy Karol. The book is amazing.
While I had received a sewing machine from my husband for my thirtieth birthday, I hadn't sewn much in the six months I had it until I picked up
Amy's book. As far as I'm concerned, Bend the Rules took sewing from frumpy to fun.
I was hoping to include all sorts of cute photos of the purses I made from the book. Turns out, I only took a photo of one of them, and it was the least exciting of them all. Nonetheless, here it is:
I think this one ended up with my sister-in-law Carolyn. I made similar ones for my other two sisters-in-law. My own sister received a sturdier purse, made from this
tutorial. So it was shaped like this:
It turned out cute, too. Seriously, what good is a purse post with photos?!
