I don't like baseball...

Sunday, 6 April 2008 20:22 by sara
But I do really like these vintage-y baseballs.

I'm not sure how or even why, but I found these on Etsy and suddenly wanted one for myself. Not because I'm a baseball player or even a fan. And it has nothing to do with some nostalgic feeling I get when I see a baseball that reminds me of my childhood. Because frankly, I have no happy childhood memories that have anything at all to do with baseball. Nope, not even a random boyfriend (or crush) ever even played the game. Thus, I cannot explain my desire to hold this pretty little baseball. Doesn't it just look touchable?

It comes in other fun colors, too.

If you happen to like baseball, rather than just being overwhelmed by the desire to handle one of these Lemon Balls, you can purchase a colorful photo. Seems like it'd be fun for a baseball fan to own, no? And what a fun way to spice up an otherwise dull baseball shrine.
Apparently there's some history to the lemon peel baseball. The look is inspired by the original baseballs from 1860.  Incidentally, baseballs in those days (well, at least those before 1861) were often dark red, I guess because they were easier to see against the sky, and the dark leather was easier to come by. I don't pretend to be a baseball expert, so I may be wrong on the historical aspect. I really only care that they were colorful and fun.  Like this:

You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be really something which I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

I completely agree with the above comment, the internet is with a doubt growing into the most important medium of communication across the globe and its due to sites like this that ideas are spreading so quickly.
